Welcome to the LEEA blog
The bottomland hardwoods of Louisiana are fascinating places to explore. These bottomlands are also called Overflow Swamps and are found wherever streams, bayous, or rivers flood the bordering floodplains. They are rich with biodiversity. Winter is a time of renewal for the swamps, when the backwaters cover the areas and replenish their soils. The moon is waning over the swamp, but under clear skies is still bright.
